“On 3 December 2018, the United Nations General Assembly adopted with consensus a resolution proclaiming 24 January as International Day of Education, in celebration of the role of education for peace and development.
In commemoration of the first International Day of Education, Kate Tales Foundation North-Central and Southeast Region, Nigeria, facilitated ‘Education and Culture’ project. A classroom workshop for 300 students (from each region) to redefine Education in relation to their diverse cultures, re-evaluate the importance of education and eliminate underlying barriers confronted by students from rural communities. The interactive workshops were facilitated by South-South Regional Coordinator: Precious Adibe, and North-Central Coordinators: Ismail Aliyu and Aminu Ibrahim.
Books donated to the foundation by Aunty Talatu Reads Initiative were distributed to the students at the end of the workshops.
